New Castle Stainless produces a wide array of duplex grades — ranging from lean duplex steels to superduplex — suitable for a variety of applications requiring high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking.  Common applications include chemical process tanks, pressure vessels, piping systems, structural components, and storage tanks to name a few.  Duplex grades are readily weldable using the prescribed welding practices.

Grades

2205+2

2205+2 is a the most popular of the duplex grades that combines excellent resistance to corrosion and stress corrosion cracking with high mechanical strength.

LDX 2101

LDX 2101 is a lean duplex that offers good corrosion resistance and resistance to stress corrosion cracking, which makes it a good alternative to coated carbon steel or even standard austenitic steels in some applications.  This lean duplex offers high mechanical strength along with good machining characteristics.

2304

Duplex Type 2304 is considered a lean duplex.  It combines good corrosion resistance and stress corrosion cracking resistance with high mechanical strength.

2507

A super duplex product with higher corrosion resistance and mechanical strength than 2205+2. Often used in extremely corrosive environments such as desalination, chemical, or offshore applications.

Welding Information

The “How to Weld 2205” document provides comprehensive information regarding welding practices and qualification requirements for welding 2205+2, but the general principles and guidelines can be used for all of the duplex stainlesses.
